Welcome, Allison and Kevin!
Since the 2024 Joya-e / New Year’s Eve Service, the Mountain View Buddhist Temple has had two Young Adult Minister’s
Assistants helping Rev. Mukojima, Rev. Devon Matsumoto and Sensei John Arima. The Sangha sees Allison and Kevin on the
onaijin almost every Sunday.
Sometimes Ken Nakano from the Oasaji group is also on the Onaijin.
Seeing six MVBT religious leaders on the Onaijin is wonderful.

Kevin Kujiraoka
My name is Kevin Kujiraoka. I grew up in Ventura County, attending the Oxnard Buddhist Temple. At the Temple, I earned the Boy Scout Sangha Award with the guidance of Rev. Henry Adams. I also became a Minister’s Assistant under Rev. Masanori Watanabe. Because of their guidance at the Oxnard Buddhist Temple, I attended the Youth Activities Committee (YAC) 13 Retreat in 2017, which solidified my personal investment into Shin Buddhism.
For this reason, after attending the Orange County Buddhist Church (OCBC) during college, I came to the Mountain View Buddhist Temple after moving to NorCal for my current job as an instructor for troubled youth.
I involve myself heavily into the Mountain View Buddhist Temple hoping to further my Buddhist education and internalize the lessons that my previous Minister’s Assistant mentors taught me. I am benefiting from my Buddhist experience at MVBT, and now I’m making new friends locally.
Allison Tanaka
My name is Allison Tanaka. I was born and raised in Sacramento where I grew up attending the Buddhist Church of Sacramento. I now reside in Sunnyvale, CA.
I am a graduate student at University of California of Santa Cruz who is attending classes at the Silicon Valley Campus located in Santa Clara.
I completed the Youth Advocacy Committee (YAC) program and received my Youth Minister’s Assistant (YMA) certificate in summer 2016.
I first attended the Mountain View Buddhist Temple (MVBT) while participating in the Jr. YBA Coast District and Sr. YBA Coast District conferences hosted by MVBT. I decided to support MVBT Sunday services because I enjoyed the responsibilities and learnings while being a young adult minister’s assistant in Seattle.
