VISION WORKSHOPS – May 30 & 31
Thanks to all of you that participated in our MVBT Workshops on May 30 and May 31. These workshops had Temple members and others associated with affiliated groups or Temple use organizations join in our conversation. We truly appreciate YOUR input, which will improve our services and resources for the Temple membership and serve to help us plan for the future.
COMPASSIONATE CONVERSATIONS – June 7
Due to the recent events with the death of George Floyd, there was a feeling that a safe venue for discussion and education was in order. Many of our VISION Committee Members initiated the response to creating this space for our members and invited other Temple associated psychologists and clinical social workers to join and help us process the thoughts and feelings that were troubling during this time. Many thanks to Susan Yuen, Elise Fujimoto, Daniel Ryu, Devon Matsumoto, Kaylyn Arima, Rev. Mukojima, Naomi Nakano-Matsumoto, Akemi Flynn-Do, Hien Do, Bruce Morimoto, Brent Izutsu, Alex Muselman and John Arima. There were approximately 50 people on the call and I have personally heard from many that it was a very safe and healing event. Further steps have not yet been defined, but I am grateful that we were able to offer this space for our Sangha.
In gassho and with deep appreciation,
Julie Satake Ryu
