Girl Scouts – April 2020

The Brownie girls had a joint session with the Cadettes and learned how to make mochi waffles. At their next meeting, they learned about recycling and made tissue paper flowers using tissue from presents they’ve received.

The Cadette girls have been busy preparing to host a Camping Skills event for the Brownies. They are also doing some painting and drawing and learning how to create material designs.

The theme of the Girl Scouts 2020 World Thinking Day is “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion” and calls attention to the ways that girls can work to make their world a more equitable and inclusive place. To that end, the Ambassador girls will be holding a fundraising drive to collect toiletries and feminine products and donating to a local women’s shelter.

Our Padma program has started up again, with five girls starting or continuing to work on earning the BCA’s Buddhist Padma Award. For their first meeting, the girls were given a tour of the onaijin by Reverend Mukojima, and the Brownie Padma students made O-nenju.

Thank you to the Sangha for supporting our Girl Scout Cookie Sales!
