ANNOUNCEMENTS

Hanamatsuri

The Dharma School will be part of the Hanamatsuri service on Sunday, April 14, which commemorates the birth of Prince Siddhartha Gautama, who later became Shakyamuni Buddha.  There will be special sutra chanting, a Gatha presentation by lower-grade students, and a presentation by the high school class.

After service, the Dharma School will be hosting lunch for the Sangha.  The Dharma School is asking those who are available to contribute a salad, side dish or jello.  We are also looking for volunteers to help with setup and clean up.  An email from Cheryl Shay, this year’s Hanamatsuri luncheon coordinator, was sent to all Dharma School parents on March 5 with links to the RSVP and sign-up forms.

FDSTL Conference

The Coast District Dharma School Teachers’ League is hosting this year’s Federation of Dharma School Teachers’ Leagues Conference, which will be held on Saturday, April 27, at the Mountain View Buddhist Temple.  Teachers from BCA temples across the country and from the Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawaiʻi will be attending.

No Dharma School on April 28

While there will be no Dharma School classes on Sunday, April 28, due to the FDSTL Conference, everyone is encouraged to attend for a special Dharma Talk by this year’s FDSTL Conference keynote speaker, Dr. Paula Arai, the Eshinni and Kakushinni Professor of Women and Buddhist Studies from the Institute of Buddhist Studies.
