“Crooked Tree” in Parking Lot

At its November meeting, the Temple Board approved the placement of a plaque near the “crooked tree” in front of our Temple to commemorate its planting by Gomonshu Ohtani and Lady Ohtani of the Kyoto Nishi Hongwanji who visited our Temple in 1964.  In the 60 years since its planting, the tree has taken firm hold in the ground and the branches have extended high and wide into the sky as if to encourage us to earnestly follow the Nembutsu Path.

It was a wish of the late Richard Endo to commemorate the tree so that current and future members know the importance of the tree to our Temple’s heritage.  If you would like to make a donation towards this commemorative plaque, please visit our Temple Donation page at https://tinyurl.com/CrookedTreeMVBT and look for “Crooked Tree Plaque.”
