ALTA MESA CEMETERY CLEANUP
The annual Alta Mesa Cemetery Cleanup was held on Saturday, April 19. This annual community service project is truly a meaningful gesture, and ABA is thrilled to have members from Miroku and the Girl Scouts join ABA again this year! The cleanup makes the Japanese/Asian area of the cemetery a beautiful place to visit.
While this was a collective effort, ABA gives a shoutout to:
- Mel Inouye: For negotiating the flower donation from the San Francisco Flower Market.
- The “Weed Whackers”: David Kariya (who put in some extra overtime!)
- Sterling Makishima, Peter Matsumoto, and Paul Sakuma for their early Saturday start.
- Alice Ishida & Judy Nakano: For coordinating the delicious luncheon that fed our hungry tummies
Thank you again for your effort and great company. It was wonderful to socialize while giving back to the community.
The 87th Anniversary of Community Interfaith Service will be held on Saturday, May 24, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am in front of the Pioneers Memorial Monument that is in the center of the cleanup area.
CHICKEN TERIYAKI FUNDRAISER
For the Chicken Teriyaki Fundraiser on May 2 & 3, ABA helped with the 2nd shift of barbecuing and cleanup on Saturday. On Sunday morning, ABA helped with packing of rice into containers for the bentos. Thanks to all the ABA members that volunteered.
