ABA News – December 2023

Life Skills Activities with YBA

ABA is having a joint organization activity with the YBA by having a series of Life Skills organized by Joanne Makishima with ABA members presenting demonstrations and training with everyday functions such as sewing, how to tie a necktie, formal dining table etiquette, etc. 

At the YBA Halloween Party on October 28, Glenn Kitasoe and Peter Matsumoto demonstrated BBQing techniques.

Also, after the Sunday service on November 5, Joanne Makishima organized the 2nd Life Skills session with a “how to tie a necktie” demonstration performed by Sterling Makishima and Glenn Kitasoe with assistance by Lorrie Kitasoe and Joanne Makishima

Thanks to Russ Nakano for chairing the Shotsuki Hoyo service on November 5 as well as organizing the Buddhist Reading with Shirley Matsumoto, Greeters, Mieko Nakano and Alice Ishida and Ambassadors Peter Matsumoto and Glenn Kitasoe

 

Meet & Mingle Activity

ABA’s first Meet & Mingle activity since the pandemic, was held on November 10 with 50 ABA members and guests enjoying a fun evening of socializing, games and refreshments.  The winner of the LCR (Left-Right-Center) dice game was Ron Sakino and the Battle of the Sexes was won by the men this year with Scott Hirotsu and Randy Sato outdueling Jean Shimoguchi and June Otaguro in the game of “Ballz Up.” 

Thanks to the Makishimas, Nakanos, Tsuchidas, Kitasoes, Ishidas and Chans for organizing the festivities!
